My kids have told me that Farmingville has a reputation for drug use/drug dealers. This is truly upsetting to me and I’m sure any parent! How can we get drug dealers out of our town?

    • Marisa says:

      Ronnie-

Luckily, it isn’t worse here than surrounding towns, the 6th pct. has recently informed us, but please feel free to join us Sept. 20th at 7P at the Fire Dept. in town for our meeting- the police will be there, and you can address any concerns regarding this. Thanks for the input!!!

Good information! I have been previously hunting for something similar to this for quite a while now. Thank you!

I’d like to see a coffee house akin to the type from the last 50′s and 60′s where people could gather in a relaxed atmosphere to hear local musicians, poetry readings, and hold discussion groups – as well as enjoying a good cup of coffee. Outdoor seating would be very welcome bonus.

  7. Terrific review! This is truly the type of article that needs to be shared around the internet. Shame on the Bing for not ranking this blog post higher!

I am very concerned about all of the robberies and break-ins that have been occuring especially in my neighborhood. ( I have had things stolen as well) I just learned about the Farmingville Residence Assoc. and will attend the Oct. meeting. I am upset I missed the Sept. mg. I think the police dept. were there. There have been vans and cars seen at Bus Stops taking pics of kids and posing as under cover police! This is scary! As a town, there should be letters, phone calls, notifications to ALL residence, not just those with children, informing everyone what is happening. The Police, town, and School District should all be working together to stop this crime. It is getting out of hand! What can we do before it is too late?

    • Marisa Pizza says:

      Hi LeeAnn!

We’d LOVE to have you join! Please tell EVERYONE you know! Power in numbers is how we change things. Our COPE rep is at every meeting, so they will be there 10/18 as well:) I myself had an issue on my block, and our rep got right on the situation, and resolved it. Please let them know all details, addresses, dates things occurred, and bring a business card or your contact information for our COPE police rep. They are our best defense against these things, will look into it, let you know the full status of the issues at hand, and will let you know what they are currently doing, and what can be done. Do you have a neighborhood watch in your area? If not, due to the issues you’ve been experiencing, I’d highly suggest reaching out to your neighbors prior to the 10/18 meeting, seeing if they’d be interested, and having them attend. The officer present can then let you know how to start the watch. It has a huge success rate, and will be another tool to use against these crimes. Looking forward to meeting you 10/18!

  21. ALEXIS GRASSO says:

Drug abuse is pandemic to LI, Ronnie; it is not more prevalent in our community. We can fight addiction [all addictions] by offering our young people a “depth” conversation about meaning and purpose in life. Addictions are seductive ways for people to anesthetize their pain. The question is, why are so many, in this most privileged of countries, in so much pain? I assert we have a spiritual malaise, the emptiness that results from alienation from our deepest soul-self, that is, our Authentic Self. Youngsters sense this and flounder.
